Hot Women Campaign Supporter Tracey SmithFounder of InterNational Downshifting Week, author of The Book of Rubbish Ideas, broadcaster and sustainbility advocate Tracey Smith talks about how 100 companies losing gas supply in the recent extreme weather should arouse us from our apathy, why she’s proud to be a sizzling Hot Woman, and rubbish chemicals. I think it’s easy to switch off to something happening on the other side of the world—clean water is one example, when we can freely turn a tap on and just watch the stuff gush out. But recently 100 companies had their gas supplies cut off here in the Uk during the extreme cold. Then it hit home. We do take certain resources for granted. I’ve become increasingly aware of the chaos cause by these extreme temperatures over the past decade. I think that whether you believe in climate change or not we should be more understanding, more respectful of these sorts of problems. A change in attitude and awareness can only benefit everyone What do I think of ecotoxing? Well of course you are talking my subject here. I’m considered the ‘living with less’ guru having set up the National Downshifting Week – which is now the International Downshifting Week – obviously I am a complete advocate of ‘ecotoxing’ - decluttering at the same as helping the environment. And as author of The Book of Rubbish Ideas I can probably supply more than a few new ones to support Hot Women's ecotoxing regimes. As regards chemicals in cleaning products and shampoos, (which is what immediately springs to mind when you use the word ecotox,) well, thank goodness people are now cottoning on to their health risks to themselves as well as the environment. I am very proud to be a sizzling hot woman. I think this
campaign is essential. It’s engaging all of us to confront the tricky
issue of climate change, but from a grass-roots level. And undoubtedly,
as far as I am concerned, women are power players. As mothers, wives,
singletons and fabulous females generally, we make the majority of the
purchasing and lifestyle decisions. With a small lean towards the green,
we could all be immensely influential activists. . Plus it’s got a fun
title.I like that.
