The Impact of Climate Change on Canada

For Canadians the increase in temperatures globally will be felt mostly with increased stress in very hot weather events, more droughts, floods, wildfires and severe storms. As everywhere there will be more stress on water sources, the wildlife and fish stocks of Canada.

The great boreal forest could be reduced substantially. In addition to direct effects on growth, the likelihood of increased forest fire frequency and pest outbreaks could cause a huge decrease in the forest which will have other knock-on effects.

Areas of the lower Fraser delta which are already sinking will be further impacted by the rising sea levels caused by climate change.
