Women Campaigner Louise Burfitt-Dons Praises India's Car Pool System

Louise Burfitt-Dons leads worldwide initiative to get women involved in global warming and reduce their carbon emissions.

Indimoto.com’s pioneering effort in promoting carpooling in India has received praise from a global warming campaigner. Louise Burfitt-Dons who heads up the campaigning section of the Global Warming Alliance said that Udit Bhandari’s free website which allows commuters to share lifts across India and in the cities.

‘India is the fastest growing automotive market in the world and CO2 emissions from vehicles is adding to global warming so any attempt to reduce their use is welcomed’ she said. Louise Burfitt-Dons also heads up the Hot Women Campaign which is focussed on getting women to cut down on CO2 emissions. 'Statistics show women make the majority of decisions on what energy appliances to buy for the home.'

The campaign has received support from women in Canada, America and Australia and recently Indian women have been logging in and signing up. Burfitt-Dons is encouraged. ‘With its growing population and as a country that is already facing tremendous pressures due to rapid development India is particularly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change from storm surges, droughts and floods. Indian women are concerned for their future.’
