Hot Women
At The Barbican Global warming campaigner set to inspire audiences at London’s biggest green fair ever.Louise Burfitt-Dons will be speaking on Global Warming: An Inconvenient Truth or A Convenient Lie, an inter-public debate to be held at London Aware eco exhibition on Sunday 11th May at the Barbican Exhibition Hall London at 12.50 in room 1. ‘The sceptical lobby has been more vocal than ever in recent months,’ says Burfitt-Dons who spearheads the Hot Women Campaign ‘But our climate is changing at a frightening speed. At no time in our history has our future been more at stake—and no place on our planet will be unaffected by the views you choose to accept or refute.’ Designed to be understandable, motivating, informative and engaging the panel sessions promise to be one of the star attractions of LONDON AWARE 08 tipped to be the biggest green fair ever held in the capital. Other environmental speakers include Martyn Williams from Friends of the Earth, Trevor Baylis OBE, inventor of the Wind Up Radio, Chris Huhne from the Liberal Democrats and Fred Pearce of the New Scientist. ‘Each one will provide an opportunity for visitors to interact with some of the leading figures in their fields,’ says exhibition founder Danny Carnegie . He insists that the key to the exhibition is not just to attract the already converted ‘dark and mid greens’ but also the ‘light and possibly greens’ – a massive number of people who are beginning to realise that hey should consider their options and just need pointing in the right direction. Light green women are the focus of Hot Women, run by research and campaigning group Global Warming Alliance, who recognise that women may be responsible for the majority of the carbon emitting shopping decisions. ‘They run the homes, decide on the holidays and influence consumer fashion from mineral water to the trillion dollar international clothing industry. Women’s cooperation is essential if you want public cooperation.’ The GWA researches wind and hurricane intensification due to global warming has criticised authorities in the past for not doing enough to protect airline passengers and their crews warning that the control systems designed to cope with crosswinds on landing were no longer sufficient. And if women can be influenced by what they hear from Louise Burfitt-Dons they will be able to select home products from one hundred different exhibits of cutting edge green products across the UK. ‘Hot women are aware of trends,’ says Louise Burfitt-Dons, ‘and the London Aware exhibition is where you will be able to see everything under one roof with the kids in tow to boot.’ Tickets to the event are priced at £5.00 and available from www.ukaware.com
